About Goldpeak Dobermans

Keena

Keena

Keena

Our imported bitch, Keena. Fierce and confident, loving to her family, conformationally correct, Keena is everything we could have asked for in our foundation bitch.

Peppa

Keena

Keena

Peppa is daughter of our Keena and CH Chamaco. We are thrilled with how she is maturing. She has been my intro dog into showing and it could not have been a better experience.

Lotus

Lotus

Lotus is our Columbian girl, she has been a lovely dog to help us learn sports. She is fun, bright and always ready for the next adventure.

I found the love for Dobermans in 2018 with my first male, Tango. I knew then that this was the only breed for me. These are SMART dogs that want to please. Training was fun and all I wanted to do with my time in the day. Tango was not from notable pedigree nor a good breeder.. Was he the best dog ever? No actually far from it. He is reactive, has horrible allergies and has horrible anxiety. Though I was able to learn with him, he has advanced trick titles, participated in Fast cat and taught me the love and respect for the breed. Without him, I'm not sure I would have been able to become involved in this amazing breed. He now just resides on the couch and enjoys his relaxation and fetch time.

Dobermans are not for everyone. They require mental/physical stimulation, dedicated training and building a bond with their person. Please do plenty of research on this breed before acquiring one. They can be stubborn, hard headed, and a lot as puppies. Dobermans take time and dedication, they will not be perfect overnight.

In my short time in breeding, I've learned a lot of do's and dont's. Number One, don't take every opinion to heart. Not all of us will ever see eye to eye, some people may not like my dogs at all and that is okay. I am not here to please every single person, everyone will not have the same taste as me or goals. I am here to grow as a breeder, improve the quality of my dogs, expand my knowledge, and become better. Tiny steps in the right direction.

Since 2018, I have already greatly improved the quality of dogs within my small program and it will continue to be so. I have retired a few dogs from my program that did not meet my standards. Is it hard, certainly but health, temperament and structure will always come first. I do not breed for numbers or blindly breeding dog to random dog for profit.

My female Peppa has been actively showing since BPUP and has since earned her first Champion point with AKC. That is something I thought I'd never be able to say. We have worked so hard for this. Peppa has been training since as early as 6 weeks old.  I am thrilled to see what the futures holds for us. I am hopeful to compete in Rally with her, which will be a new journey for us.

I aim to continue becoming more competitive in the AKC ring. I take weekly conformation classes to help hone my abilities and experience. There is no experience like actually setting your foot in the ring though!

We also really enjoy Fast Cat, Cat, Scentwork and just being out with our dogs. We take them hiking, horse riding, boating, traveling, literally everywhere that we go, they go!

I do not own a kennel. All of my dogs are in my home with me. My puppies are raised in my living (family) room. They are exposed to everyday sounds and smells. My children are also involved in their lives. My puppies are desensitized to a lot in their young lives.

I begin handling their feet from a dew days old, and begin trimming at 2 weeks old. I slowly introduce nail dremeling and table grooming, both crucial if you ever want a groomer to touch your dog, or for you to do their nails at home. Puppies will get used to being brushed, sprayed with a conditioner or show sheen, or even just a white vinegar base to become use to the different smells and sound of a spray bottle. I try to focus on the little things that may be overlooked. I want to prepare my puppies the best way possible for their future families.
