Our Guardian Home Program

Quite the oppoRTUNITY!

The guardian home system is often used to ensure that their breeding dogs are raised in a family environment and get the socialization, attention, and one on one care. The puppy/dog is placed with a family where it will live as a beloved pet, while still being part of the breeder's program.

Here’s how it works in a typical guardian home arrangement:

  1. Ownership: The breeder retains ownership of the dog, but the puppy will live with your family. The guardian family covers everyday needs and typical vet care. The breeder will cover all appropriate health testing. You will basically receive a free fully health tested dog. Once the dog is retired, ownership is then signed over.
  2. Breeding Program: The guardian dog will begin health testing at 2 years old. Females would normally have 2-3 litters and males used as needed. All breeding expenses are covered by the Breeder. The dog will be spayed or neutered after its breeding career ends. Litters would be born in our home and puppies raised with us also. The female would return to her family once puppies are 8 weeks of age.
  3. Compensation for Guardian Family: Often, the guardian family is compensated for the care they provide. The guardian family may be offered a puppy from one of the dog’s litters as part of the arrangement or a monetary compensation. We will compensate the family for any titles placed on the dog as well.

After the dog’s breeding career ends (typically after a few litters,) the dog is spayed or neutered and stays with the guardian family as their pet for life and the ownership is signed over to the family.

Benefits of the Guardian Home System:

  • Socialization: The dog gets to live in a home environment with a family, getting more attention and socialization.
  • Health and Wellbeing: The dog’s physical and mental health benefits from living in more of a one-on-one setting.
  • Ethical Breeding: Breeders can ethically manage their breeding dogs and provide them with a higher quality of life.

This arrangement benefits us and the dog by helping maintain a comfortable home life, that is still more one on one for the dog. For the guardian family, it’s a way to be part of a responsible breeding program without having to take on the full responsibility of breeding, cost and care.

Requirements

To be considered for our Guardian Program, we do have a few requirements.

  • Live within 3 hours of Evans, WV
  • No immediate plans of relocating
  • Guardian is responsible for all routine vet care, typical of any normal pet. We ask that the guardian feeds a similar food to what we use.
  • Must be able to provide normal grooming, such as nail care.
  • Must be able to provide a safe home, crate training and be able to contain the dog/puppy

Understand that we are waiving the purchase price of the dog in exchange for a service; you must be willing to communicate, cooperate and coordinate with us during their time in our program, and be dedicated to providing a safe, loving home for the lifetime of the dog.

If you are interested in this unique opportunity, please message us. We will be looking for a home for a male/female Fall 2025.
